What’s a secret skill or ability you have or wish you had?

My secret skills aren’t all that secret, it’s just that you wouldn’t expect a Chef to have these skills. I was trained as an architectural technologist and worked in the field for seven years.
I also took martial arts ; Taekwondo and Karate.
In the late ‘80’s the computer became a more prominent piece of equipment; the companies thought they only needed a view technologist when the computer came to the work force. So a bunch of us were laid off and boy were they wrong. Nevertheless I had to go back what I knew, and that was the restaurant business. At the time I couldn’t go back to school due to supporting a family. Therefore I went into the apprenticeship within the hotels , giving me the opportunity to work, train and get paid at the same time.

In my 30’s I started taking Taekwondo and Karate , in order to stay in shape. The workout routines were hard, but so satisfying to achieve certain martial arts levels. One sparring event I had applied too much force and broke my opponent’s arm. If you block your opponent the wrong way it can cause injury. He wore a cast for a couple of months and wanted a rematch after the cast came off. Karate can be precarious while Taekwondo is to remove you away from harm.
Unfortunately I didn’t pursue it past the age of fifty due to working as an Executive Chef. However, my training is always useful in case of any conflict that may come my way.
My last skill is a science fiction writer ; after years of research and patience I finally published my thrilling Scifi novel, “ Black Angels” becoming an author: Bari Marcus Anthony

My secret skills were both a good experience and help keep your mind sharp. As they say,” Never judge a book by its cover “ , you may never get to know the real person. I have other secrets , but that’s for another time …
Cheers !
Chef Bari
