Wow! The history of my name is fascinating! 🇮🇹 Bari, my hometown’s namesake, has such a rich past. From a Roman port city to a bustling modern hub, it’s steeped in history. 🚢 My Mom, from the beautiful Puglia region (Apulia), wanted to keep those roots alive by naming me Bari. 😊 Apparently, ‘Bari’ signifies a ‘spear thrower’ – quite fitting for someone passionate about life, don’t you think? 😉
Growing up, I was immersed in Italian culture, thanks to my amazing grandparents. 👨👨👧👦 My Grandpa Tony, from Corropoli in the Abruzzo region, was a master chef! 👨🍳 We spent countless hours in his kitchen, learning to make authentic Italian dishes. 🍝 I was just a kid, but I quickly learned the importance of food in our family – it brought us together, sparked lively conversations, and filled our home with laughter. 👨👩👧👦
Sundays were a feast! 🍽️ We’d prepare a “Sunday Gravy” with three types of meat, simmering for hours with a bottle of Grandpa Tony’s homemade red wine. 🍷 The aroma filled the house, and the whole family would gather, sharing stories and singing along to my Grandpa Tony’s booming voice! 🎶 My Mom, Elda Maria Valentia Varze, would play the piano while my uncles strummed their guitars. 🎶
It was a life filled with love, laughter, and the comforting aroma of Italian cooking. 🇮🇹 Grandpa Tony and Mom instilled in me a deep appreciation for our heritage and the importance of family. ❤️
