Wow! The history of my name is fascinating! š®š¹ Bari, my hometown’s namesake, has such a rich past. From a Roman port city to a bustling modern hub, it’s steeped in history. š¢ My Mom, from the beautiful Puglia region (Apulia), wanted to keep those roots alive by naming me Bari. š Apparently, ‘Bari’ signifies a ‘spear thrower’ ā quite fitting for someone passionate about life, don’t you think? š

Growing up, I was immersed in Italian culture, thanks to my amazing grandparents. šØāšØāš§āš¦ My Grandpa Tony, from Corropoli in the Abruzzo region, was a master chef! šØāš³ We spent countless hours in his kitchen, learning to make authentic Italian dishes. š I was just a kid, but I quickly learned the importance of food in our family ā it brought us together, sparked lively conversations, and filled our home with laughter. šØāš©āš§āš¦

Sundays were a feast! š½ļø We’d prepare a “Sunday Gravy” with three types of meat, simmering for hours with a bottle of Grandpa Tony’s homemade red wine. š· The aroma filled the house, and the whole family would gather, sharing stories and singing along to my Grandpa Tony’s booming voice! š¶ My Mom, Elda Maria Valentia Varze, would play the piano while my uncles strummed their guitars. š¶
It was a life filled with love, laughter, and the comforting aroma of Italian cooking. š®š¹ Grandpa Tony and Mom instilled in me a deep appreciation for our heritage and the importance of family. ā¤ļø
Bari name is significant in our Italian Culture.
Cheers !
Chef Bari
