Enjoying Vegas When I can …

What do you enjoy doing most in your leisure time?

I love going to Vegas when I can afford it. Throughout the years it’s become costly… However, compared to Resort prices in Canada, Vegas is still the best bet.

My wife and I have been going to Vegas since 1989 and so many changes yearly, never mind decades. We remember seeing The Mirage, Las Vegas being built by Steve Wynn, way back. Vegas is my fun place where I can enjoy the fine dining, along with tons of other cheaper options.

When we first went to Vegas you could get steak and eggs for $1.99 and a Prime Rib Dinner for $4.99. Today, that’s unheard of. Now, we have celebrity chefs w/ meal prices soaring to $200 per person. Ordering a steak will cost you from $65 to $250, depending on what cut of steak you order. And, that’s just the steak ! Sides are extra. So be prepared to wine and dine at premium prices. However, if you look around, you still can find cheap eats. The best bet is to head downtown Las Vegas ( #dtlv) to find more reasonable prices. You can still go dining for half the price on the Las Vegas strip.

Another thing happened because of COVID, the Vegas resorts are having less buffet options. It to is becoming too costly for the hospitality business. That being said, you still can find good buffets at Caesars Palace, Excalibur and The Wynn, Bellagio has a smaller buffet too. The cost vary, but can cost from $70 to $80 per person. Overall, I enjoy The Wynn and Caesars Palace. Unfortunately, ARIA, Las Vegas closed their buffet. The ARIA did an excellent job with their buffet, so it’s sad to see them close it. The thing is now, it’s all about the bottom line ; how to make the most profit. Silly me, thinking Vegas Resorts are already pulling in hundreds of millions quarterly. No matter what you may have thought about the mafia controlling Vegas (up to 1986) they did know how to comp their guests and keep food prices down.

Here’s a list of buffets still available:

Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars Opens at 3:30 pm weekday and brunch – please check, as this keeps changing

The Buffet at The Wynn, Las Vegas Great selection to choose from

The Buffet at Excalibur

Every year, there are drastic changes in Las Vegas, so be prepared by searching and following Vegas communities, like us. Please follow :
