Wedding Pictures

What bothers you and why?

True Story — I was watching People’s Court with Judge Marilyn Milian the other day. One of her cases involved a wedding couple and the photographer, who they were suing , due to not receiving still photos during parts of their ceremony. When I saw this program, I was thinking,” OMG ! If Judge Marilyn heard what happened to us, she would throw the book at our photographer — lol.

SO — I thought, wouldn’t my followers be interested in our story :

On May 19 1979 Patricia and I were married at a church across from the Vernon Courthouse in the Okanagan Valley of beautiful British Columbia.

Months before the wedding, my wife knew that her girlfriend’s husband was a local professional photographer and therefore we hired him to take our photos. Before our wedding day we agreed for photos taken throughout the church ceremony and, afterwards, we were supposed to take photos at the new courtyard called “Justice Court” kitty corner to the church. We were excited to have our wedding photos taken at this beautiful oasis of spring flowers and towering waterfall. However at the last minute, during the wedding service, he took one of our guests aside and told him , he had doubled booked and wasn’t able to take photos we had requested. Of course, with everything going on that day, we didn’t even have the option to discuss it with him, because he literally took off to his next wedding, leaving us high and dry ( sort-of-speak). Just the idea, he didn’t tell us in person was totally uncalled for, never mind the fact he canceled.

Trying to make the best of our special day, we had no choice but to accept it, thinking, at least he took some wonderful photos during the wedding service.

A week after the wedding, Patricia’s girlfriend told her he lost all the photos from our wedding and there wasn’t anything her husband could do about it. Talk about “adding salt to the wound”. We were devastated and to this day we only have one group photo of our wedding that someone else took.

Now, I wonder what Judge Marilyn Milan would say to the photographer that did our wedding. I’m thinking pay up Mister !

Even though we didn’t receive any professional photos from our wedding, we’ve been together now for 44 years and our to go place to celebrate is Las Vegas. Fortunately for us ( last year ) Plaza Hotel and Casino in Downtown Las Vegas gave us the most rewarding memory of our anniversary, with CEO Jonathan Jossel , inviting us to Oscars Steakhouse ( all complimentary) for a grand fine dining experience with our name announced on the billboard above. The servicing staff and chefs went out of their way to give us the best-of-the-best Fine Dining Experience ever ! To this day, we are deeply thankful for CEO Jonathan Jossel kind gesture of reaching out to us.

This year, once again we’re headed to Vegas, but this time in August. We couldn’t celebrate our anniversary this year in Vegas, however we tend to make up for it once we are there. Without-a-doubt we will visit the Plaza Hotel and Casino and pay tribute, indulging once again at Oscars Steakhouse ; as well, do some gambling in their casino. Plaza Hotel and Casino has added some new exciting venues to their downtown property, such as :

  • The New Carousel Bar offering the first outdoor bar vintage carousel with a modern twist. As they say, “Sip unique cocktails and play Nevada’s only outdoor Slots and Video Poker machines.”
  • Oscar’s Patio featuring the all new rooftop, outdoor fine dining experience with amazing views of Downtown Las Vegas night lights.
  • Brian Christopher — the first online social influencer to have featured slot machines in downtown’s first smoke-free casino, inside Plaza Hotel and Casino.
  • And — Last but not least : Pinkbox Doughnuts have open shop at the Plaza Hotel and Casino carrying over 70 different doughnuts flavours, from classics to signature creations. Their entrance has made a big splash downtown !

Overall we plan on having the best time in Las Vegas and who knows, maybe we’ll bump into each other !

In Conclusion:

So, what bothers me ? Well, not having our wedding pictures ; still a thorn in my side. I still say, we may never be able to recover from having photos of our wedding day, but we have each other and Vegas to celebrate each and every year !

Cheers !
