Tribute to Pastry Chef Anna Olson

Chef Anna Olson is a treasure of sweets and treats because, in my opinion , she’s the best Pastry Chef in the World.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia her family moved to Toronto, Canada for reasons I’m not sure.

Nevertheless, she started off in Toronto getting her degree in political science and sociology from Queen’s University in Kingston. In her spare time Anna enjoyed doing social dinner parties, so she spent a lot of her time, in Toronto’s well known St. Lawrence Market, planning her next event. Apparently, working at the bank wasn’t her calling and eventually she decided to change up her career by enrolling into the Culinary Arts at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island. After graduating and several years of working throughout United States, she came back to Niagara Falls, Canada to become Pastry Chef at “Inn on the Twenty “.

Remarkably, her career took an incredible jump, as she became host of the program “Sugar” on FoodTV Network Canada. It was here I took careful notice of her skills as a Pastry Chef. You can tell right away her skills as a trained Pastry Chef was indeed evident.

Anna’s natural charisma with her stunning ease on camera, took her career flying, becoming a household name in the cooking and baking network. Soon Chef Anna Olson became official sponsors for Kitchen Aid, Splenda, Fleischmann’s Yeast and even Starbucks! Without-a-doubt her TV personnel was so natural and inviting, advertisers were scrambling for her next gig. Believe it or Not, Anna also did a commercial for Pillsbury featuring Christmas cookies during 2006.

Unfortunately I never met Anna Olson or her husband Michael ( also a well known Chef ) but I can see by Anna’s Pastry expertise, she real knows her skill. I’ve worked beside many pastry chefs and it’s only a few that really have the knack of “making baking” look so easy, when that’s farther from the true. For Crying Out Loud, she was also on “ Iron Chef Canada” during a Holiday Baking episode! Make no mistake, Chef Anna Olson is a exceptionally gifted Pastry Chef I know in Canada.

WE chefs appreciate skilled chefs like Anna Olson. I’m not sure if she’s part of the CCFCC, but I don’t see why not. You know the old saying “ I’m not worthy “ well… I’m not worthy when it comes to the remarkable Pastry Chef Anna Olson.
